Tidewater Waterfront Residential Development - Oakland, California - The Tidewater area in Oakland, California, is a defined industrial area of land adjacent to the Oakland Estuary with access to the San Francisco Bay. This 25-acre parcel is close to Interstate 880, a major corridor in the Bay area. Valued Places approached the Tidewater land owners to consider a joint effort to rezone the area. After an extensive campaign working with the Oakland Planning Department, Community Special Interest Group Representatives, select members of City Council and the Mayor’s office, along with the current waterfront user-owners, Valued Places was successful in causing the Oakland City Council to agree to move forward with funding for a Specific Area Plan process that would see the waterfront area being ultimately designated as a mixed-use residential zone.
